HOW TO READ YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL
Your electricity bill contains a lot of information. This page will help you understand the most important billing components in your electricity bill.

No Akaun / Account No
Each bill has a unique account number, which is printed here.
12 digit customer account number where all customer information / data / payments / meter readings are kept and updated.
No.Kontrak/Contract No
An Electricity contract agreement that is signed between the customer and TNB.
Deposit
Security deposit paid by customer. Usually based on two months consumption estimation.
Please refer to Table for deposit amount payable.
No. Invois / Invoice Number
Each bill has its own invoice number.

Customer’s Details
The name of register account holder & the postal address.

Info/Bill Payment Status
The box indicates two types of information:
TERIMA KASIH Kerana membayar dalam tempoh 30 hari
Or
Bayaran Tertunggak
NOTIS PEMOTONGAN DIBAWAH
The bill also serves as a disconnection notice if you have an outstanding payment from previous bill. The disconnection notice is printed at the bottom of the bill.
Customer is advised to make full bill payment as stated in the bill within the specified date stated in the bill to avoid supply disconnection.

Jumlah perlu dibayar/Total Amount Payable
Total bill amount to be paid after the rounding up is done which includes Outstanding charges, Service Tax, late payment surcharge, credit/debit adjustment (if any)

Tarikh Bil / Bill Date
The date of invoice generated in TNB Billing system.

Tunggakkan / Outstanding Charges
Previous outstanding charges to be settled immediately. Kindly ignore if payment has been made.

Caj Semasa / Current Charges
Total charges as stated in item 29 including late payment surcharge, credit / debit adjustment, Service Tax, KWTBB.

Penggenapan / Rounding Up
Follows existing rounding up policy determined by the Government of Malaysia.

Jumlah Bil / Total Bill
Amount of electricity consumed inclusive of outstanding charges, current charges and round up figure.

Bayar Sebelum / Due Date
The last date to settle the bill amount to avoid late payment surcharge. Total outstanding amount must be paid immediately to avoid disruption of electricity supply to premise.

Bil Terdahulu / Previous Bill
Previous billing information (amount & date) before current bill.

Bayaran Akhir / Last Payment
Last payment date & amount made.

Jenis Bacaan / Type of Reading
Your bill will state if your usage was based on an actual or an estimated reading of your meter.
Actual Reading : Your usage is based on reading taken at customer premise.
Estimate Reading : Your meter was not read during this billing period. The estimated calculation is based on an average of the last three months consumption. Reading is estimated if the actual reading is not able to be obtained due to unavoidable reason (eg. Premise locked, meter block, natural disaster and etc). If the estimate is too high or too low, your next bill will include a credit or an additional amount to pay. This means you only pay for the electricity you use.

Tempoh Bil / Billing Period
This is the billing period for your bill, and is where you can find the start and end date for your bill.

Tarif / Tariff
Defined based on tariff category for your premise. It differs based on consumption usage at the premise (residential, commercial, industrial etc.)

Faktor Prorata / Prorate Factor
Proration factor applied by TNB will benefit the customers whose meter are read above 31 days. Any billing period above 31 days will be prorated.
Proration Factor = Number of billing days / 30
Example:
Billing Period = 35 days
Denominator = 30 days
Prorate Factor = 35/30
= 1.16667

Blok Tarif (kWh) / Tariff Block (kWh)
Consumption according to block as gazette in tariff structure.

Blok Prorata (kWh) / Prorated Block (kWh)
Tariff Block is prorated if the billing period is above 31 days. Prorated Factor will be multiplied with each tariff block. Customer will benefit lower rate for expanded consumption block range.

Kadar (RM) / Rate (RM)
Rate imposed on each prorated block.
If your consumption is less than 400 units monthly, the tariff charges for the first 200 units is charged at 21.8 cent per unit. The subsequent 100 unit is charged at 33.4 cent per unit. If consumption exceeds 300 unit monthly, the tariff rate is as shown in the sample bill.

Result of rate multiplied with prorated block.

Jumlah / Total
Total electricity consumption charges for the billing period.

Keterangan / Description
This column shows all the applicable components for a particular customer, units (kWh) of consumption and charges (RM).

Tidak Kena ST / ST Non Applicable
Total electricity consumption and related billing components that is not taxable.

Kena ST / ST Applicable
Total electricity consumption and related billing components on which Service Tax applies.

Jumlah / Total
Results of addition of Tidak Kena ST & Kena ST column for total units (kWh) electricity consumed and total charges (RM) on the consumption consumed.

Kegunaan Bulan Semasa / Current Month Usage
Total electricity consumption charges for the billing period excluding ST & Renewable Energy Fund (KWTBB).

Rate of ST
Service Tax applies to electricity bills for residential customers (Tariff A, Domestic) with monthly consumption exceeding 600 kWh (more than RM231.80), and this is effective for billing cycles of 28 days and above.
Note: Starting from 1st March 2024, the service tax rate will increase from 6% to 8%.

KWTBB / Renewable Energy Fund (RE Fund)
1.6 % additional charge from the total electricity consumption charges for the billing period. This amount is transferred to Government or SEDA & no ST / ICPT applies on it.

Caj Semasa / Current Charges
Total amount payable for the billing period inclusive of ST & Renewable Energy Fund (KWTBB) or any other charges.

Nombor Meter / Meter Number
Meter serial number which records your consumption and used for billing purpose. Each electric meter has a unique number, which enables TNB to bill appropriately.

Dahulu / Previous
Meter reading as of previous bill date.

Semasa / Current
Meter reading taken based on current consumption.

Kegunaan / Usage
Total electricity consumed in the billing period derived from the difference between current and previous reading.

Unit
Measurement of electricity in kWh. Kilowatt hours (kWh) is the measure that is used on your electricity bill. Your total kWh usage shows the total amount of electricity you have used over the billing period.

Message Portion / Mesej
Information from TNB to customer
The fuel subsidy amount indicated in the electricity bill is strictly for indication/information purpose with NO monetary transaction.

Consists of customer account number (12 digit), invoice number and total amount payable.
