STEP 1Determine your electricity load

Load up to 100kVA (<100kVA): Appoint an Electrical Contractor registered with the Energy Commission to complete internal wiring and all technical requirements OR to apply electricity on your behalf.

Load exceeding (>100kVA): Appoint an Electrical Consultant Engineering registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia to apply electricity on your behalf.

STEP 2Make application (for load up to 100kVA (<100kVA)

Newly-built premises Existing premise (may apply without appointing a contractor)

1)Appoint contractor

Appoint Electrical Contractor from the Energy Commission Electrical Contractor list.

The Electrical Contractor will submit the electricity application form and the required documents to TNB.

2)Fill up form

Fill the Electricity Application form and attach it together with required documents.

Sign the Electricity Supply contract (Electricity Application form) with TNB.

3)Pay essential charges

Pay the connection charges TNB has quoted with RM10 stamp duty.

4)Get electricity supply

Pay electricity deposit.

Get meter and supply as installed by TNB.

*You are required to pay all essential charges (connection charges, stamp duty and security deposit) upfront to apply for electricity.

*To get the best deals among the listed contractors, you are advised to liaise and request for quotations prior to appointing one.

1)Fill up form

Fill the Electricity Application form and attach it together with required documents.

Sign the Electricity Supply contract (Electricity Application form) with TNB.

2)Pay essential charges

Pay reconnection fees (RM3 for low voltage or RM80 for medium & high voltage), RM10 stamp duty.

3)Get electricity supply

Pay electricity deposit.

Get meter and supply as installed by TNB.

*You can only opt for this method if

TNB service cable and the premise meter board are present and in good condition.

No premise renovation has been done involving the internal wiring.

You are assured that the premise internal wiring is in a good working condition.

Newly-built premise Existing premise (may apply without appointing a contractor)

1)Appoint contractor

Appoint Electrical Contractor from the Energy Commission Electrical Contractor list.

The Electrical Contractor will submit the electricity application form and the required documents to TNB.

Fill the Electricity Application form and attach it together with required documents.

Sign the Electricity Supply contract (Electricity Application form) with TNB.

Fill the Electricity Application form and attach it together with required documents.

Sign the Electricity Supply contract (Electricity Application form) with TNB.

2)Pay essential charges

Pay the connection charges TNB has quoted with RM10 stamp duty.

*Note

According to Electricity Act 1995, you are advised to get their premise internal wiring inspected by a registered electrical contractor if they unaware of the wiring condition and also as a precautionary measure.
It is the responsibility of the appointed contractor to trace the wirings (fill up Form G), test each wiring circuits (fill Form H) and then declare the results to customers.

The process of applying through contractor is as mentioned in the Newly Built Premise application process.
You must declare their premise installation condition truthfully, as disparity from declaration may result in supply application being rejected.

At Kedai Tenaga nearest to your premise

You or your appointed contractor may submit the electricity supply application at the nearest Kedai Tenaga.

Required documents

  • Under Personal Name

    UNDER PERSONAL NAME

    Completed & signed Application Form

     

    Copy of Applicant’s Identification Document

    Identification Card (IC) or Army ID or Police ID or passport ONLY

    Note:

    Copy of ID must be:

    1. presented both sides;
    2. crossed at the top left corner of the image with "For TNB Purpose Only" or "Untuk Kegunaan TNB Sahaja".

     

    Documentary Proof of Premises Ownership/ Occupancy

    Proof of ownership (owner):

    1. Land Title/ Latest Land Title Search/Strata Title; or
    2. Duly stamped Sales & Purchase Agreement containing below pages:
      1. Agreement between Seller & Purchaser;
      2. Full premises address;
      3. Signature of both parties; or
    3. Proclamation of Sale (Complete pages)

    In the absence of any of these 3 documents, applicant must make an application as non-owner/occupier.

     

    Proof of occupancy (non-owner/occupier):

    1. Valid period & duly stamped Tenancy Agreement containing below pages;
      1. Agreement between Owner & Tenant;
      2. Full premises address;
      3. Signature of both parties
     

    In the absence of the above documents, Akuan Pengesahan Permastautinan (eg. by Ketua Kampung/ Penghulu/ MPKK) is required to be submitted together (IF ANY) with any relevant document that indicates the applicant’s occupancy of the premises such as:

    1. utility bills or invoices like Indah Water Konsortium (IWK); or
    2. telephone bills (landline only); or
    3. quit rent and/or assessment; or
    4. any official correspondences under the applicant’s name.
       

    Additional Supporting documents for Premises with Commercial or Industrial activities:

    Development Order or Permit or License or any form of consent or approval from the Local Authority.

     

  • Company / Sole Proprietorship / Enterprise / Partnership / Society

    Under Company/ Sole Proprietorship/ Enterprise/ Partnership/ Society/ Agencies/ Legal Firm Name

Stop electricity

If you are vacating the premises indefinitely (such as moving after selling a premise), you should close your electricity account. When you close your account, your premise electricity supply will be cut off and depending on cases, your electric meter will be removed.

Until they do so, you are still liable for the electricity consumption and payment for the account.

STEP 1Fill up form

Submit the Close of Account form together with required documents.

STEP 2Pay outstanding electricity charges

Pay off your outstanding electricity charges based on latest bill at Kedai Tenaga, any TNB authorised payment channels or TNB Payment Gateway.

STEP 3Get final meter reading

TNB personnel take final reading and cut-off electricity supply to determine the final charges up to the account closing day.

Premise must be accessible for this purpose.

STEP 4Get deposit refund

Basic deposit refund calculation: Refund = Deposit – Final Charge (if any)

Deposit refund can be done through bank transfer (first priority), cheque (posted) or transfer to your other active account.

Deposit refund (if any) will be done within one (1) month.

You can write in and submit through registered post to the TNB Kedai Tenaga nearest to the premise which account is to be closed.
