DEFINITION

“Domestic Consumer” means a consumer occupying a private dwelling, which is not used as a hotel, boarding house or used for the purpose of carrying out any form of business, trade, professional activities or services.

CHANGE OF TARIFF

In general, TNB electricity tariff classification is based on consumer business activity at the said premise and its supply voltage level. In the event there is changes in activity at the said premise which requires change in consumer tariff category, the following actions may be taken;

  1. Consumer may apply for change of tariff to TNB
  2. TNB deserves the right to change consumer's tariff based on actual activity at the said premise

How tariff pricing is determined

1) Customer category

STREET LIGHTING
DOMESTIC
COMMERCIAL
INDUSTRIAL
MINING
SPECIFIC AGRICULTURE

2) Supply voltage
Voltage level* Supply voltage
Low voltage:
1 Phase
3 Phase
Extra Low Voltage
(V ≤ 50V)
Low Voltage
(50V < V ≤1kV)
Medium voltage Medium Voltage
(1kV < V ≤ 50kV)
High voltage High Voltage
50kV < V ≤ 230kV
Extra High Voltage
230kV < V

3) Usage profile
(i.e operation hours – 24 hours or not)
Peak: 0800 – 2200 hours Off-Peak: 2200 – 0800 hours
The definition of customer category is stipulated in Tariff Book
Kindly note that the final applicable tariff of tariff change application is subjected to site verification on business activity and/or submission of relevant supporting document(s).

Customers who are approved for tariff changes must enter into a new agreement with TNB and pay the stamp duty to effect the new tariff.
