Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) Rate Remains Unchanged
for the Period of 1 July 2022 to 31 December 2022
The Government of Malaysia announced on 24 June 2022 to maintain the ICPT rate for TNB customers in Peninsular Malaysia with a total subsidy of RM5.8 billion. This decision was made despite a significant increase in fuel costs and other generation costs that accounted for ~65% of your electricity bill.
For your kind information, the electricity tariff in Peninsular Malaysia has remained unchanged since 2014. The variable rate in your electricity bill is ICPT which is a mechanism that has been approved by the Government to reflect changes in the cost of electricity generation, especially fuel costs every six (6) months.
With this subsidy, the ICPT rate for the period of six (6) months from 1 July 2022 to 31 December 2022 is as follows:
