RM 20 Government Subsidy

Find out how you can get RM 20 off your bill.

The Malaysian Government offers RM 20 subsidy on monthly electric bills to all eligible TNB residential customers. It is applicable for consumption usage of residential customers, excluding individual street light (ISL).

Eligibility

ELIGIBLE

If your electricity bills are RM 20 or less

This amount includes any applicable discounts

Outstanding amounts, late payment charges or any other charges are excluded

NOT ELIGIBLE

If your monthly consumption is 0 kWh (vacant premises)

Government Rebate (RM) > [(kWh Consumption Charges – Discount) + Monthly Minimum Charges (if applicable)]

Example 1: Customer A
Bill component:
Consumption (kWh) = 80
Consumption charges (kWh) = 80 kWh x RM 0.218
Total Current Charges = RM 17.44

Government Rebate threshold = RM 20.00
RM 20 > RM 17.44

Since RM17.44 is below the government rebate threshold, Customer A is eligible to receive the Rm 17.44 rebate.

**If customer has individual street light (ISL), the related charges are not covered for government rebate.

Example 2: Customer B
Bill component:
Consumption charges (kWh) = 10
Consumption charges (kWh) = 10 kWh x RM 0.218
Total Current Charges = RM 2.18
Monthly Minimum Charges = RM 3.00 – RM 2.18
= RM 0.82
Total Current Charges = RM 3.00

Government Rebate threshold = RM 20.00
RM 20 ≥ RM 3.00

Since RM3.00 is below the government rebate threshold, hence this customer is eligible for government rebate of RM3.00

**If customer has individual street light (ISL), the related charges are not covered for government rebate.

Example 3: Customer C
Bill component:
Consumption charges (kWh) = RM0.00
Monthly Minimum Charges = RM3.00

Since the consumption is 0, this customer is not eligible to receive the Government Rebate and has to pay the RM3.00 (Monthly Minimum Charge).

**If customer has individual street light (ISL), the related charges are not covered for government rebate.

ICPT (-RM0.0152) = -RM9.12

TNB discount = 10% x (RM231.80 – RM9.12)
